Salaminder 3 piece

This fantastic 1970s 3 piece skirt set was designed by Sally Von Werlhof for her iconic clothing brand Salaminder, of Kansas City MO. The craftsmanship is outstanding and this is in mint condition. Von Werlhof began producing high quality western wear in the mid 1970s, believing that it was the closest thing to a national costume the country had. She kept her designs youthful and fun with bright colors, appliqued motifs and updated styling. At its peak, the firm sold to prestigious stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Harrods’s in London. This outfit’s flouncy brown corduroy skirt and matching vest are accented with bright rows of rick rack, velvet and other trims. The skirt has amazing folkloric appliques, a signature of the Salaminder style. The bright turquoise cotton blouse ties the look together perfectly. The high quality shows in details like side seam pockets and a lining on the vest. Tag says size 12 but size is estimated as medium or modern size 6-8.
